COCO's Red Ribbon Ball Raises £15,000
Wednesday 9th December 2009
Over 160 guests joined COCO's Chairman Steve Cram and COCO for the Red Ribbon Ball which was held in the stunning Great Hall of the Discovery Museum in Newcastle.
The red ribbon is the international symbol representing compassion for people living with HIV/AIDS and as World Aids Day was on December 1st COCO wanted to recognise this through our ball theme. Many of the children we work with are affected by HIV/AIDS and funds raised from the ball will help improve their lives through improved education and healthcare.
It was an extremely enjoyable evening for all involved and there were many highlights which included the infamous music game which saw guests strutting their best dance moves and later on in the evening a talk from COCO's Southern Tanzanian Coordinator Oswin Mahundi who was visiting from Tanzania.
Guests included many of COCO's members and long standing supporters, in addition to many new faces which was great to see. COCO are particularly grateful to those who travelled from afar to attend, even as far as Tanzania!
The entertainment for the night was provided by one of the North East's premier bands, Rollin' Rock who kept the dancefloor packed until the end of the evening.
Many guests spent the night gathered around a casino table, trying their luck at roulette whilst others posed for photos from the official photographer.
Several lucky winners from the auction and raffle won prizes like a trip for two to Maranello to visit the Ferrari factory - a once in a lifetime experience! Other prizes included theatre tickets, spa vouchers, the chance to record a music video, a round of golf and an exlcusive photo session with one of the region's top photographers.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended COCO have raised over £15,000 for COCO's projects which is fantastic news. Thanks to those who attended, it was a wonderful evening and a great way to begin the Christmas festivities!
Thank you to Caitlin Goodall from St Mary's School for taking photos on the evening. One of her pictures is attached to this story!
