Fiona is a Trustee of COCO. Fiona is Director of Birkheads Wild CIC a Gateshead-based social enterprise she recently founded, which aims to help disadvantaged young people in the North East have more opportunities to discover and enjoy the outdoors. Fiona has also spent the last 18 months working for people consultancy Change & Transformation, and is now using her experience in leadership development, change management and facilitation to support other regional organisations in a freelance capacity.
Previously Fiona was Operations Director for the leadership development charity Common Purpose in the North East where she worked with over 500 leaders from all sectors over 8 years. Prior to that Fiona also has ten years experience in Fundraising and Development in the not-for-profit sector working for a national charity based in the region and also for 5 years at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art where she was part of the team who established and opened the flagship arts project.
During that time she was also involved in community regeneration initiatives in the west end of Newcastle – and she sat as an elected member (Community Representative Director) on the Newcastle Westgate New Deal for Communities Board for two years and co-founded a ‘direct action’ residents group for her immediate neighbourhood.
Fiona also holds a Non-Executive role for Newcastle University where she sits as a lay member of Court (one of the statutory bodies for the world class civic university).
Fiona is married with twin boys who are 7 and lives in rural Gateshead.
