Phaustine is COCO’s Kenyan Programmes Director. He first founded FOCUSSA in 2006 in response to the high number of orphans in the area. As a result, he has supports approximately 200 local orphans a year. A proactive man, Phaustine has done some research and found that, of the 1,000 children between the ages of 3 and 15 in the area, 55% have been orphaned. This is in part due to the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS.

Over the years, Phaustine has taken advantage of any training opportunities offered and developed the school greatly. Indeed, FOCUSSA now has a poultry project to generate income as well as a fishpond and tree nursery. Phaustine also has plans to install solar power to enable evening study and IT. All of this is completed by Phaustine’s skill at finding truly passionate teachers!
