Team COCO September Scorcher Competition

How to enter and win a worthless prize and everlasting glory!

See the handicaps here.

First of all, make sure you have run in a parkrun before September 8th. Make sure that your time and club, Team COCO, are on the parkrun website. Handicaps will be announced on Sunday 2nd September. Then turn up for your local parkrun on September 14th, 21st or 28th.

Run in one, two, or three parkruns anywhere you like on the above dates. Don’t forget your barcodes, otherwise your time won’t get recorded! We'll check your times and use your best time to calculate your score.

Every Team COCO member who has taken part in a parkrun while registered for Team COCO from April 8th will be given a handicap, based on your past performances.  The slower you have been, the better your handicap. We will combine the handicap with your best Easter finishing time to find the Summer Scorcher.

For example, if Alf Tupper is Team COCO leader having clocked 17 minutes at Wallsend parkrun he gets scratch on the handicap. That means he gets no time taken off any parkrun time he clocks over Easter.  Lucy Kendall clocked 36 minutes at Durham parkrun. Lucy gets a handicap of 19 minutes. She gets 19 minutes taken off her best summer parkrun time.

So, if Alf runs 18 minutes in Gateshead over the three weeks of the handicap competition and Lucy runs 35 minutes in Newbiggin by the Sea, Alf gets nothing taken off and Lucy gets 19 minutes taken off.  Lucy hammers Alf Tupper by 2 minutes in the September Scorcher competition.

We will let you know the leaders via Facebook and Twitter. The winner will be the runner who comes first after all the time deductions have been made from everybody's best run.  And they will win the glory of being Team COCO September Scorcher of 2019 and be posted a completely worthless prize from the Team COCO office.

There will also be a Team COCO Summer Sunbeam title up for grabs, combining the scores from the Summer Scorcher, Easter Bunny and Christmas Cracker competitions - so those who perform consistently and take part in multiple competitions will be rewarded over time! The winner is awarded 11 points, second place 10, down to one point for tenth and everyone else who took part.

Happy Summer Running!
