A Whole New Year

2021 has kicked off brilliantly at one of COCO's partner Schools for Life, Mshangano Secondary School, where there will be a Form Four (the final year of secondary school) for the first time! So as we welcome in a new calendar year, Mshangano Secondary brings in a whole new school year full of just as much hope for a brighter future!

Mshangano Secondary School is a community school, located in an area of Southern Tanzania where the average household income is less than 60p/day. The community established the school to provide education to their children, however they struggled to be able to afford to keep the school running and provide the quality of education that they hoped for their children and were forced to close the school in 2010. The school re-opened in 2017 with the support of COCO, and quickly moved from outside the top 100 schools in the region to inside the top 10. In recent local exams, the school came second in the area.

Thanks to your support, a new group of students will be welcomed in to Form One at Mshangano, while those in Form Four will be sitting their final year exams in which they will be trying to beat the results of Hoja Secondary, another Schools for Life partner and currently the top performing school in the region.

"The school has opened up the new blank page upon which greatness will be achieved."- Sengo, Project Coordinator
